Produced by the American toy manufacturer Mattel in 1968, Hot Wheels die-cast cars are hugely popular with both kids and collectors alike. A friendly rivalry existed between Hot Wheels and their main competitor Matchbox which ended in Mattel buying out Tyco Toys (who owned Matchbox at that time). Now with over 10,000 models to date, Hot Wheels is still the leading manufacturer worldwide of die-cast vehicles for motor lovers.
